I'm having a hard time getting in. When it does let me in, I post but it doesn't show.

Yes, it takes me to the page with a nickename and I click "Go" then I'm taken to a blue screen telling me to type a nickname and the channel. I do but it doesn't connect.

Wrong. Plenty of people with different opinions hang out on IRC without acting like morons, but somehow that escapes you.

You obviously weren’t paying attention, because he got “attacked and ridiculed” (as you call it) just as much as you did. Just not at the same time.

What you’re not getting is that the “insulting” that goes on in the IRC is largely… playful. Maybe you can’t handle that, and IRC is not for you. Okay then. But don’t try to portray the channel as elitists just because you don’t understand how IRC works.

People are different.  I've said here before that some of the people in #skeetendo are more direct than is the norm.
I think the problem is we (as a group) largely lack tact, and expect others to understand regardless of how we convey the message.  When a misunderstanding happens, things quickly become heated.  Instead of endlessly arguing over the original meaning, which just leaves a sour taste in everybody's mouth, people should just move on.

For the record, I don't recall ever declining helping you with pokecrystal-demo.  The "other person" got help from me with his hack, yes.  I didn't realize you were ridiculed, though.

I think it's largely pointless to talk about attitudes, though.  Personally, I try to avoid making nasty remarks towards others unless I'm absolutely sure they'll get it as a joke.  But I don't particularly care when somebody talks in such a way to me, and if they have a clear problem with me, I try to resolve it instead of alienating them.

I have to say that part of the reason things came to this is probably based on how my personal life is atm. So i apologize for anything i did in irc to upset folks.

On the flipside what i've said here still largely stands, the thing about irc is that its divided between z80 and 'others', whearas people who dont know z80 are catagorized in other. To me this is, for lack of a better term...'racist' because 'others' are often bashed. To get respect you must be like Rich Kid Shanem(pun intende) and kiss ass.
