Hopefully it doesn't remind of getting giratina too much because that's not where I was inspired by that.
I got the idea from Seiken Densetsu 3 actually (where there is Jungle of Illusion).

In my opinion it's going to remind a game one has played and seen a maze like that before. To me it looked like Lost Maze from Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, so don't worry about that.

How did you achieve that effect? I guess you used several same looking maps connected with each other (sometimes even with itself) ?

I had an idea of doing something like your Cave aswell. I once thought of that when I messed up with labeling warps ;)

All of the maps are based on one single map that doesn't have stones in the middle of it like many of the maps introduced in the video do. I first made the base map and "copy, pasted" it 7 times in blank space following the base map (there are 8 rooms in total I think). And yes, each map is connected into four sides and some of them are connected to themselves too.

There are also three other maps of which one is the entrance map you see in the video. But there are also the other entrance map and one other cave map I don't feel like mentioning here. *See for yourself whenever I get a new release up.

Well, go for your own cave idea if you want to. As a bit of advice, there are two things you've to take in account:
1) When going through a map connection in maps that use one of the primary header bytes as [Cave], sprites don't get loaded in ram. To make that little cutscene happen in the cave, I had to load the sprite of that guy into VRAM by including it as a hidden person also in each entrance map (where a warp leads).
2) When a wild pokemon battle is gone through and the map is re-loaded, "spritebugs" appear (not sure how this actually works, I didn't pay much attention in trying to fix it). *Has something to do with the fact that the battle sprites remain in VRAM but still, I wasn't able to get the cutscene working properly if wild pokemon appeared in inner parts of the cave. It might have worked if I had added warps to every single cave map although they would have left nowhere. Of course the "proper" way to do the stuff would be seeing what kind of map loading process is used in Caves, altering it to match with the purpose etc.

So yeah, having the places connected by warps is definitely the way to go if you're going to add your own maze. If it's not a big deal that there wouldn't be wild pokemon around, you can also implement it the way I did with this place.

Thanks, yet no idea when Beta 4 will be up. There is still a long way to go to finishing it so I can't say anything for now. I've planned what it's going to contain though so that's where the last statement was pulled off.

To make them work through bluetooth, you've to hack your mobiles so that bluetooth works like a GB link cable. Done.

The whole upper room of Pokecenters will likely be gone in the next release though because I've a good reason for not obtaining 2 pokemon through trading.

Oh woah, an amazing banner.
I'm gonna put that on my PC signature.

I'm surprised you didn't use the Guardian sprite though..!

Thank you :)
The idea was mostly mine but Mateo worked it out and I too think it looks really good.

The reason why I didn't want to have Guardian in it is simply because he doesn't have a major role in the storyline like the other sprites.

Ha, a clue! So the girl's backsprite will be important indeed.
I've actually held off playing the current 3.1 Beta because I want to start over and play with the other available sprites.
So I am hoping that other playable sprites are available earlier in the game.

Unfortunately not. They won't be available until your progress quite far in the game, even in the complete version of the hack (basically, you can't get to play as them "in the part of Beta 3" in final version). I know I once again gave more spoilers about the hack but that's just something I like to do, hahha :D

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

I've finished my "first, real" asm hack!
Some people in Pokecommunity suggested making gym leaders as Move Tutors after they're beaten because their pokemon often have moves you couldn't get your own pokemon of the same kind to learn. Yesterday evening, I finished my first move tutor script so I figured I could also upload a video of it. It's still lacking some sound effects but other than that, I won't be changing it anymore.

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

Cool, why aren't you using the "Select Pokemon from Pokemon menu" but checking for first Sandshrew (or Sandslash)? Is this too hard or do you just prefer this way? I don't mean TM learning window where it says "able/not able" because I know Pokemon would need extra data for that.

I didn't think about it when I started making the script. Supposedly, "special 0x4C" would have worked just fine. After that I would have had to check whether RAM matches with 1B (Sandshrew' number in hex) though.

That would actually be a better way to do this because currently there is a slight error in the script. If you've got more Sandshrews than just one, the game wants to teach the move for the first one in the party.

Probably next year, it wouldn't have affected the story at all.

That will be so :)

And guess what, I've got more pics to be shared and this time, you'll also get to read some information behind them!

scaled.php?server=207&filename=42033296.png&res=landing

What could have Ashlyn been thinking when she said that? There is simply no way you could travel back in time!

scaled.php?server=208&filename=40937672.png&res=landing

More of a joke here. Guess what game this is line is based on? I'll give you a hint, the name begins with "I ..."

scaled.php?server=849&filename=65812983.png&res=landing

Yay, a trading house! Nothing too special here, you can trade with people, talk with them but what is surprising is that there is a gentleman here who'd like to trade your Super Onix for something special if you got one. What could this guy be up to?

scaled.php?server=10&filename=86411881.png&res=landing

And... we're trying to find gym leader Ichirou who is also described as a great ninja. It seems he got our Pidgeot somewhat unguard, maybe by throwing a weapon on it or something?

scaled.php?server=341&filename=87635813.png&res=landing

And between Areas 112 and 115, you'll run into a couple of trainers which seem to be looking for something precious. Perhaps a pokemon that someone saw hiding in these parts earlier?

scaled.php?server=337&filename=88463547.png&res=landing

Oh no! Grandma has lost her grandaughter Elena who has obviously come hiding in this cave (while they're playing hide and seek). If we find her and bring her back, maybe grandma will reward us for doing so... This is a little mini-game where the girl actually follows you and you get to walk yourself by the way.

And that's all for today! Some feedback on the images would be appreciated (although I get the feeling you like 'em anyhow even if you didn't say a thing) :)

Re: Pokémon Dark Energy

I spy a Celebi Shrine in the first screenshot!

These are looking pretty cool. I'm curious how you get around the issue with becoming stuck if you walk into a blind corner (like the one above the hill with the old woman) while someone is following you (since you can't walk through people). I once experimented with letting someone follow you around town for something and kept having trouble with this in the past. But anyways, looking good as always. Keep up the awesome work.
